Awareness Programme for Contractual Labourers at ICAR CCARI, Goa

 

An awareness program for contractual labourers was conducted at the ICAR CCARI, Goa on 21st June, 2024 to educate them about their rights and the importance of workplace safety. This informative session was led by the Regional Labour Commissioner Shri Harikesh Bahadur and the Labour Enforcement Officer Shri Vaibhav D. Abadule, who provided valuable guidance on various labour-related issues. During the program, they interacted with labourers engaged in diverse duties at ICAR CCARI, addressing their concerns and answering questions.

The Director, Dr. Parveen Kumar, alongside the Administrative Officer Smt. Montia Rita D’Silva and the Farm Superintendent Shri Vinod Ubarhande, coordinated the programme. The Director informed the Regional Labour Commissioner and the Labour Enforcement Officer about several initiatives the Institute has undertaken for its contractual labourers. These initiatives include celebrating International Labour Day, offering coaching classes for the children of labourers, providing access to the Institute's clinic for contractual workers, and supporting the higher education of labourers’ children on a voluntary basis. By fostering a better understanding of labour rights and safety protocols, the Institute aims to create a more secure and supportive work environment for all contractual labourers.
