ICAR-CCARI organized field day cum-farmer interaction and distribution of coconut dehusking devices under SCSP

A field day cum farmer’s interaction meet was organized on 12 February 2024 at Betqui village of Ponda Taluke, South Goa under the Scheduled Caste Sub Plan, Govt. of India. A total of 21 beneficiaries attended the programme and participated in the deliberations. Dr V Arunachalam, Principal Scientist (Horticulture) and Dr   Sreekanth GB, Senior Scientist (Fisheries Resources Management) and Coordinator SCSP organized the event. During the meeting, farmers’ problems on coconut farming and fisheries activities were discussed. The coconut dehusking devices reduce drudgery and increase safety while dehusking coconut fruits in a safe and user-friendly manner. A total of 21 coconut dehusking devices were also distributed to the beneficiaries including eight women. The scientists assured all scientific and technical support on agriculture, and fisheries to the farming community of Betqui village.
