Visionary Agro-Eco Tourism farmer of Goa Shri Chinmay Tanshikar honoured with ‘Dr. M. S. Swaminathan Chair for Excellence in Precision Farming Award’

Shri Chinmay Tanshikar, a visionary farmer from Goa, was awarded the ‘Dr. M. S. Swaminathan Chair for Excellence in Precision Farming Award-2024’ on 16th October, 2024, by MIT-Art, Design and Technology University in Pune. This honour recognizes his exceptional contributions to sustainable agriculture and agro-ecotourism.

 

As the founder of Tanshikar's Working Spice Farm in Netravali village, Tanshikar has spent over two decades cultivating a diverse range of crops, including arecanut, coconut, nutmeg, and various spices, across 40 acres. Recently, he expanded his commitment to sustainability by adopting natural farming practices on an additional 5 acres, making his operation fully organic.

 

His dedication to sustainability is exemplified through his collaborations with ICAR-CCARI, Goa, where he actively engages in technology adoption and capacity-building programs. Accompanied by Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director of ICAR-CCARI, at the award ceremony, Tanshikar's work stands as a beacon of innovation and environmental responsibility, inspiring future generations of farmers.
