Interaction with biodiversity management committee team from Bandora

    The biodiversity management committee team from Bandora visited the institute on 14 November 2024. Adv. Surel Tivle, the chairman along with Mr. Devesh, a mushroom expert interacted with the scientific team of CCARI and explored various opportunities for collaboration. Dr Parveen Kumar, Director assured all the support from the institute for the agriculture and allied activities in the village. The team was also exposed to different units of the institute such paddy fields, rice and coconut based integrated farming systems, mango, cashew, fisheries, livestock, biogas, value added product unit from cow dung, vermicompost, jeevamrut, and waste water treatment facility. Dr Vinod Ubharhande, Farm Superintendent interacted with the team and provided information on vermicomposting and jeevamrut production. Dr Gopal Mahajan, Sr. Scientist (Soil Science) interacted with the team and explained the working of biogas and cow dung value addition and waste water treatment units. The team appreciated the research and extension activities of the institute and expressed interest in cucumber cultivation, coconut based integrated farming system, salt-tolerant rice varieties, biogas unit, value addition in cow dung, seabass polyculture, duck cum fish cage unit, and ornamental fish culture. Dr Sreekanth GB, Sr. Scientist (FRM) and Shri Trivesh Mayekar, Scientist (FGB) co-ordinated the programme.
