ICAR – CCARI, Goa organized an awareness program on bamboo cultivation under “Kisan Bhagidari Prathmikta Hamari” campaign @ AKAM

 

ICAR–Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute (CCARI) and ICAR– Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), North Goa organized an awareness program on Bamboo Cultivation as a part of “Kisan Bhagidari Prathmikta Hamari” campaign under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav on 25th April, 2022. Mr. H R C Prabhu, Senior Scientist & Head I/C, KVK in his welcome address briefed on the importance of bamboo cultivation in Goa. Dr. Muralidhara Rao, Musa Gene Tech, Mangalore, spoke on the scope and future prospects of commercial cultivation of tissue cultured bamboo to enhance farm income. Mr. Milind Digambar Patil, Sahyadri Nursery, Kudal gave a talk on propagation, cultivation, plantation management, harvesting, economics and value addition of bamboo in coastal regions of India. During the interactive session Dr. Uthappa A.R., Scientist (Agroforestry) briefed the participants about the various schemes under National Bamboo Mission and clarified the various queries on bamboo. Dr. Monica Singh, SMS (Agri Extension) proposed a vote of thanks and the program was attended by 42 participants.
