ICAR- CCARI, Goa was felicitated by Government of Goa on 35th Statehood day

Government of Goa on its 35th Statehood Day presented a momento and citation to ICAR- Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Goa on 30 May 2022 for its outstanding contribution towards progress and development of agriculture, animal husbandry, fishery and food processing which made revolutionary change in the state of Goa. Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director of this Institute received the award from Shri Shripad Naik Hon’ble MoS Tourism, Shipyard and Waterways, GoI, in the presence of Hon’ble Shri PS Sreedharan Pillai, Governor of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant Hon’ble Chief Minister, Govt. of Goa and other dignitaries in Raj Bhavan, Goa. Since the establishment of this institute in 1989, 17 varieties of different crops like rice, cashew, brinjal, okra, cowpea and red amaranthus has been developed for the state of Goa which are extensively grown in the state. Besides, native breed of cattle Shweta Kapila and Agonda Goan pig have also been characterized and registered. ICAR-CCARI also helped Govt. of Goa in getting GI of agricultural produce like Khola Chilli and Myndoli banana. This is the first time ICAR CCARI, Goa is getting recognition from Govt. of Goa.
