Director of ATARI-Pune and Officials of ICAR-KVK, North Goa, Visited Progressive Farmers' Fields of North Goa

ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, North Goa, ICAR-CCARI, Goa, organized a field visit on December 7, 2024, to showcase innovative technologies demonstrated by KVK, North Goa, to Dr. S.K. Roy, Director of ATARI-Pune. The visit highlighted the adoption of agricultural practices by progressive farmers in the region.

The tour included a visit to Mr. Vinod Barve, a progressive farmer and recipient of the Millionaire Farmer Award 2024. Mr. Barve is known for his pioneering efforts in cashew processing and the promotion of value-added products made from jackfruit, banana, and arecanut leaf plates. His work has set a benchmark for sustainable and profitable farming practices. Another highlight of the visit was a stop at Mr. Rishikesh Barve’s farm, a progressive dairy farmer and ASCI trainee. Mr. Barve has successfully maintained over 10 crossbred cows and has adopted innovative fodder technologies introduced by KVK, North Goa, enhancing the productivity and sustainability of his dairy farm. Additionally, the team visited Mr. Sanjay Ananth Patil, a renowned progressive farmer and Padma Shri awardee. Mr. Patil is a strong advocate for natural farming and has been actively promoting this sustainable practice among farmers in Goa and neighbouring states. His efforts have inspired many farmers to transition to eco-friendly and chemical-free farming methods. The visit was coordinated by Dr. Udharwar S.V., Mr. Rahul Kumar, Mr. Rahul Kulkarni, and Mr. Vishwajeet Prajapati.
