Annual Review Workshop of KVKs under Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute (ATARI), Bengaluru was inaugurated by Shri Vijay Sardesai, Hon. Minister of Agriculture, Govt. of Goa, on 04th May, 2017. He stressed on doubling the income of farmers by 2022 and plans the strategies for the same. Dr. E. B. Chakurkar, Director, ICAR – Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Old Goa in his welcome address briefed the activities of Institute and KVK for the benefit of the Goan farmers. Dr. M. J. Chandre Gowda, Principal Scientist, ATARI, Bengaluru, in his opening remarks highlighted the role of KVKs in transferring the modern technologies in an effective manner. Dr. Lakhan Singh, Director, ATARI, Pune, spoke on extension methodologies and its importance in the transfer of new agriculture technologies. Mr. H. R. C. Prabhu, Programme Coordinator Incharge, KVK – North Goa proposed vote of thanks. In workshop work done by KVKs during 2016-17 was presented. 80 KVKs from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Puducherry, Goa and Lakshdeep participated in the event. Technical sessions were chaired by Director of Extension from University of Agriculture Sciences – Raichur, Dharwad, Bengaluru & University of Horticulture Sciences, Bagalkote, University of Agriculture and Horticulture Sciences – Shivamogga, Tamil Nadu Agriculture University – Coimbatore, TANUAS and Kerala University. Valedictory programme of ARW of KVKs 2017 was chaired by Hon. Dr. A. K. Singh, DDG (Agril. Extn.), ICAR New Delhi. Other delegates present were Dr. E. B. Chakurkar, Director (A), ICAR – CCARI, Old Goa, Dr. Sreenath Dixit, Director, ICAR - ATARI - Bengaluru, Dr. Y. G. Prasad, Director, ICAR - ATARI - Hyderabad, Dr. Lakhan Singh, Director, ICAR - ATARI – Pune. During the programme rapporteurs of various sessions shared their view on KVK presentations and suggested improvements in the presentations and reporting. They also appreciated the ICAR – ATARI for organizing this function with such a large and heterogonous mixture of disciplines, crops, pest, livestock, etc. From the participating KVKs few Programme coordinators gave their feedback to the delegates. In the chief guest address by Dr. A. K. Singh, DDG(AE), ICAR New Delhi spoke about various aspects for doubling the income of the farmers till 2022. He also expressed the importance of such gathering to improve the inter learning of KVKs and in turn improving the package of practices for the farmers. The programme started with the welcome address by Dr. E. B. Chakurkar, Director (A), ICAR – CCARI, Old Goa, who felicitated the Hon. A. K. Singh, DDG(AE) and thanked ICAR –ATARI for giving the opportunity to host such programme. The Vote of thanks was given by Dr. M. J. Chandre Gowda, Principal Scientist, ICAR – CATARI, Bengaluru. The programme was compered by Dr. Gopal Mahajan, Scientist, ICAR – CCARI, Old Goa.
