XXIXth Annual workshop of National Network Research Project on Arid Legumes
29th Annual workshop of National Network Research Project on Arid Legumes was inaugurated at ICAR Research Complex for Goa on 24th May, 2013 in the presence of Shri. Hage Khoda, Secretary (Agricuture), Govt. Of Goa; Prof. B. B. Singh, Visiting Professor, GB Pantnagar University of Agricultural Sciences; Shri. U. B. Kakode, Director, Directorate of Ariculture; Dr. A. Henry, Nodal Scientist, NNRP on Arid legumes and Dr. Narendra Pratap Singh, Director, ICAR Research Complex for Goa. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Shri. Hage Khoda, praised the contribution of ICAR to the farming communities. Prof. B. B. Singh, visiting professor, highlighted the overview of Cowpea, its significance at National and International level and also the future challenges to be addressed in Cowpea. Shri Kakode, stressed upon the linkages to be developed between ICAR and the state department for better dissemination of technologies. Dr. Narenda Pratap Singh, gave the overview of Cowpea situation in Goa and also highlighted upon the local selections of Cowpea developed at ICAR RC for Goa. Publication on Journal of Arid legume was released in the hands of dignitaries on the occasion.
Three day workshop which is attended by more than fifty scientists of ICAR and Agricultural University from all the over the country comprises various sessions covering different aspects of crop improvement, crop management, plant protection, quality, varietal identification and finalization of Front Line Demonstrations. Dr. Manohara K K., organizing secretary and Scientist in Plant Breeding gave the vote of thanks.
