aquarium fabrication in Sangolda Village
The ICAR Research complex for Goa had a training programme in ornamental fish farming and aquarium fabrication in Sangolda Village, which is one among the adopted villages of Krishi Vigyan Kendra,ICAR RC for Goa, on May 08, 2014 for women and school children.
Ms. Manju Lekshmi. N, Scientist from ICAR Research complex for Goa explained that there is a huge potential for ornamental fish farming in Goa which was not being utilized effectively. She demonstrated aquarium fabrication, settings etc. The training programme gave emphasis on breeding and feeding of fishes, aquarium fabrication and its maintenance.
Dr. Narendra Pratap Singh, Director ICAR RC for Goa highlighted the development of ornamental fisheries sector and explained that under the National mega seed project many activities like breeding and sales of ornamental fishes, live feed development etc are going on in the Institute. He further explained that ornamental fisheries sector can be managed without any large investment or intensive labour. The training ended with vote of thanks by Shri H.R. Prabhudesai, SMS-Agronomy, KVK who coordinated this programme with the NGO "Green Growth Instituteā.
