ICAR-CCARI organised Capacity building cum training programme on Aquaculture in collaboration with Department of Fisheries, Goa
A one-day training and demonstration programme on Aquaculture was organized on August 28, 2023 at Fisheries Section of ICAR-CCARI, Goa in collaboration with the Directorate of Fisheries, Govt. of Goa. A total of 16 participants attended the training programme, each eager to enhance their understanding in this field. Shri. Trivesh S. Mayekar, with his expertise, provided a comprehensive overview of various commercially significant aquaculture species, along with their current status in India. The training program included demonstrations, showcasing Indian major carp culture, Tilapia culture, Pangasius culture, and Asian Seabass polyculture with water quality and feeding management in aquaculture. Moreover, the participants received training on a range of aspects including the identification of diverse exotic and indigenous ornamental fish species of commercial value, fabrication of aquarium tanks, feeding practices, health management of ornamental fishes, breeding techniques and seed production. Also a lecture centered on the methodologies of Asian Seabass culture in India was delivered by Trivesh Mayekar. Further he highlighted the commitment of ICAR-CCARI for providing ongoing support in sharing knowledge related to fish culture, contributing to the advancement of aquaculture development in Goa.The successful execution of the program owes its credit to the coordination led by Shri Trivesh Suresh Mayekar, further reinforced by the valuable contributions of Mr. B. Bjoy Borges, Mr. Sameer K. Gaonkar, and Mr. Chandrakant B. Naik from ICAR-CCARI Goa.
