ICAR-CCARI, Goa Organized Animal Health Camp at Brahmavar, Udupi, Karnataka
ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute (CCARI), Goa, organized an Animal Health Camp at Brahmavar village, Udupi, Karnataka, on January 11, 2025, in collaboration with the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Brahmavar, aimed to promote animal health practices and provide veterinary services to the dairy farmers. A total of 16 farmers benefited from the program, gaining valuable insights to improve livestock health and farming practices.
Dr. Shirish Narnaware, Senior Scientist (Veterinary Pathology) treated various medicinal cases, focusing on protozoal and metabolic diseases, and educated farmers on proper care and timely intervention.
Dr. Sadananda Acharya, Associate Professor (Fisheries), served as a translator, conveying the farmers' questions in Kannada to the veterinary experts and then explaining their responses back to the farmers in their native language, ensuring clear communication.
In total, 24 cows were treated during the camp, receiving a variety of services, including diagnosis, treatments, and preventive care advice. The camp not only addressed immediate health concerns but also helped educate farmers on long-term animal health management, contributing to improved livestock welfare and farm productivity. The event was coordinated by Dr. Udharwar S.V., Dr. Shirish Narnaware, Dr. Sreekanth G.B. and Dr. Sadananda Acharya.
