Awareness programme on integrated farming for farmers at Alappuzha under SCSP

    

ICAR-CCARI organised an awareness programme on integrated farming for farmers at Pallipuram, Alappuzha coastal district of Kerala on 20 July 2024 under SCSP. A total of 10 farmers (including 6 women) participated in the programme. Dr Sreekanth GB, Senior Scientist from CCARI explained about the SCSP scheme and the activities undertaken by the institute for improving the farmer’s livelihood. Field visit was also carried out the cage culture units of seabass and pearlspot established in the Vembanad estuary by the farmers near Pallipuram and the necessary advisories on stock, feed and health management were given. In addition to cage culture, the farmers also expressed their interest in duck farming, fish cum duck integrated farming and vegetable cultivation in the region to improve their income and livelihood. Dr Sreekanth assured all possible technical and input support from the institute for the farmers. Dr Sreekanth GB, Shri Trivesh Mayekar- Scientist (Fish genetics and breeding)) and Mr. Melbin Lal (YP 2) coordinated the programme.
