Plenary session of 24th  Annual Group Meeting of All India Coordinated Research Project on Palms

 

The plenary session of 24th annual group meeting of All India Coordinated research project on palms was held at ICAR-CCARI, Old Goa Goa .

Dr NK Krishnakumar Deputy Director General (Horticultural Science) chaired the session. Dr Narendra Pratap Singh Director ICAR-CCARI, Dr P Chowdappa Director ICAR-CPCRI, Kasaragod, Dr P Kalidas Acting Director ICAR-IIOPR Pedavegi  and Dr HP Maheswarappa Project Coordinator (Palms) graced the occasion. Dr V Arunachalam, Principal Scientist (Horticulture), ICAR-CCARI, Mr Mathew Kutty CDB Kochi, Mr Babulal Meena DASD Calicut, were other important officials attended the meeting.

Dr Krishnakumar emphasized the need for eliminating common reporting errors in AICRP projects such statistical significance, etc. He has given thrust to effective management of eriophyid mite in coconut, inflorescence sap from coconut etc. The recommendation made during 26-27 May 2015 under various sessions Variety release proposal, Genetic resources and crop improvement, Crop Production, Insect pest management, Disease management, Post harvest technology etc. were critically reviewed.

A Tall x Tall hybrid (LCT x CNCT) developed from Veppankulam center was recommended for release in Tamil Nadu during the workshop.

Two publications were released during the occasion ,

1. ICAR CCARI calender (April 2014-May 2015) with monthly sheets depicting pictures of institute activities technologies

2. Media report 2010-14 covering the press and media coverage of institute activities during 2010-2014.
