Agriculture Education Day Celebrated

 

    ICAR – Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Old Goa, Goa celebrated ‘Agricultural Education Day’ on 4th December 2020 at 10.30 am through a virtual platform. Amid COVID-19, a programme was celebrated through a virtual platform. Dr. E. B. Chakurkar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, Old Goa welcomed the chief guest and the participant and apprised about the importance of celebrating the Agricultural Education Day. Prof. Suhas Godse, President of Vidnyan Parishad, Goa and Associate Professor at Dhempe College (Retd.), Goa the Chief Guest for the function. He appealed to the students to see agricultural education as an opportunity for education, career and entrepreneurship. He explained how agriculture and agricultural education is intricately linked with humanity in historical development. The programme had a technical session comprising of two lectures. Dr. Gopal Ramdas Mahajan, Scientist (Soil Science), ICAR deliberated on ‘Agricultural Education: Introduction and Career Opportunities’ and Mr. Kishor Bhave, Directorate of Agriculture, Govt. of Goa presented in details on ‘Process of admission to graduate and postgraduate courses in agriculture for the students of Goa’. Teachers and students (9th, 10th and 12th standard) of five different schools from North Goa and South Goa attended the programme. More than 100 participants were present for the programme. Dr. Gopal Ramdas Mahajan, Mr. Sidharth Marathe, Mr. Edward Crasta and Mrs. Pranjali Wadekar coordinated the programme.
