 Vigilance awareness week 


ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute observed the vigilance awareness week from 30 Oct to 4 Nov. 2017 on the theme My vision Corruption free India. All the staff members actively participated in the week by taking e-pledge at cvc.nic.in as individuals. Dr EB Chakurkar, Director Acting took e-pledge as organisation to represent the institute. 
In this connection, pledge was taken by all staff members at the institute conference hall both in Hindi and English to eradicate corruption. As part of vigilance awareness week, an essay writing competition was organized. The essay competition (English/Hindi) not exceeding 1000 words on the theme corruption free India was held on 02.11.2017 at 3:30 PM at the Exhibition Hall.  
A video dealing with good practices, ways of dealing corruption, Dos and Don’ts and the details of the functioning of the CVC was prepared by the AKMU of the institute and broadcasted vide electronically using the TV display near the main entrance during the week.
Banners were displayed at main locations of the campus to mark the vigilance awareness week. A section covering the vigilance awareness is planned in the forthcoming institute newsletter. 
A handout as texted below in Hindi and English was prepared with following slogans in large numbers and distributed to the staff and public.
"Corruption-dishonest /fraudulent conduct by bribery
Transparency breeds trust
Corruption leads to inefficiency
Corruption creates accidents
Corruption results in poor quality of services
Corruption breaks trust 
Giving bribe is a crime & Taking bribe is a crime
It is better to lead bribe free life than guilt free life

A committee consisting of Dr EB Chakurkar, Acting Director, Dr V Arunachalam Vigilance Officer of the institute and others Dr KK Manohara, Scientist, Ms Pranjali Wadekar, Technical Offcier, Ms Sohini Sawant, administrative staff  organised the various events of the program. 

An off-campus campaign was organized to create vigilance awareness by distributing handouts in Hindi and English on slogans to tourists at Heritage site of Old Goa Church at Old Goa. Other volunteers in the campagin include Dr Solomon Rajkumar, Dr GB Sreekant, Scientists and Mr Ravi Kadam Skilled Supporting Staff. 

Social media such as the official facebook and twitter pages of the institute, and informal whatsapp group of ICAR-CCARI Scientists were used to spread the message.
