Distribution of coconut climbing devices, by-pass fat and agrochemicals and fertilizers to ST farmers

 

A Scheduled Tribe Component program was held on 29 Dec 2018 (Saturday) from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Shantadurga Mandap Cuncoliem Village, Mardol, Ponda Taulk, Goa for distribution of coconut climbing devices, by-pass fat and agrochemicals and fertilizers to ST farmers

An off campus training was imparted to the ST farmers by a demo for using coconut climbing device by Dr V Arunachalam, Principal Scientist (Horticulture) and Scientist-in-charge AICRP on Palms Goa centre.  Shri Govind Gaude Minister for Arts, culture, Tribal welfare, civil supplies & Price control, Government of Goa, graced the occasion as chief guest. Dr EB CHakurkar Director ICAR-CCARI Old Goa, Mr Durgadas Gaude, Chairman ST Commission Government of Goa, Dr V Arunachalam, Principal Scientist (Horticulture), ICAR-CCARI Old Goa and Scientist-in-charge AICRP on Palms Goa centre, Dr MJ Gupta Scientist (ASPE) and Coordinator (STC) ICAR-CCARI Old Goa, and Mr Sanjiv Cuncoliekar President Cuncoliem Farmers Cub, Cuncoliem addressed the farmers. The dignitaries distributed the 15 coconut climbing devices and a fertilizer and agrochemical kit during the function to ST farmers growing coconut. Another 7 ST farmers rearing dairy cattle were given 40 Kg each of by-pass fat. The fertilizer and agrochemical kit distributed were muriate of potash, rock phosphate, borax, micronutrient mixture, neem azadirachtin, neem cake and agricultural lime

Dr EB Chakurkar addressed the farmers and emphasized the use of by –pass fat in dairy farming. The farmers were briefed by Dr V Arunachalam, about the use of fertilizers and agrochemicals and coconut climbing device with the help of charts, power point slides and videos in improving the productivity of coconut. Dr MJ Gupta briefed the outline of STC program and its implementation at Goa state. The meeting was attended by 100 farmers of the region. The farmers clarified their doubts at the end of the session and meeting ended by 7:30 PM.
