Awareness and agricultural inputs distribution under SCSP scheme to the farmers of coastal Maharashtra and Goa.

On 20th and 21st June 2019, under Schedule Caste Sub Plan scheme an awareness and agricultural inputs distribution programme for the beneficiary  farmers of coastal Maharashtra and Goa was organised .Various Agricultural Inputs were distributed to the paddy, coconut, cashew growers and also dairy farmers of Shivapur village Tal. Kudal District Sindhudurg- Maharashtra and various villages like Mavlinge, Gavdongri, Savoiverem, Kavle of Goa state.

Dr. E.B. Chakurkar, Director ICAR-CCARI, on the occasion impressed upon the importance of the newer technologies and its adoption for improving the crop productivity and income. He distributed the Agricultural Inputs such as spray pumps, farm implements, Bio formulation, pheromone traps for control of red palm weevil and rhinoceros beetle, yellow and blue sticky traps for sucking pests, nutrient feed for dairy animals, fertilizers, vermicompost and soil health cards to the beneficiaries.     he also briefed about the SCSP scheme and how it is beneficial to the farming community he further urged the beneficiaries to utilize the agricultural inputs received in a in judicious way. Dr. Gopal R. Mahajan Scientist (Soil Science) explained the importance of soil health card .The soil samples from 60 beneficiary farmers were collected and analysed and based on the soil analysis the soil health cards were prepared . He also explained the importance of integrated nutrient management approach by use of balance dose of fertilizers and organics to improve the soil health and productivity. Dr. R.Maruthadurai Scientist (Entomology) explained the importance of pheromone traps, yellow and blue sticky traps for management of insect pests in different crops he further explained the procedure on how to use it effectively. Dr. Parmesha V. Scientist (Agronomy) explained the scientific agronomic practices for improved paddy yields he also explained the importance of vermicompost in farming system. Shri Rahul M. Kulkarni Senior Technical Officer (NRM) and Shri Ravi Kadam (SSS) assisted to coordinate the programme.
