      Five days off Campus  Entrepreneurship Development Training on “Scientific management of Goats” for Scheduled Caste beneficiaries at Adarsh Gram - Ibrampur

A five days  entrepreneurship development training programme on “Scientific management of Goats” for Scheduled Caste beneficiaries  was organized at Ibrampur village , Pedne  Taluka , North Goa District from 1st June to 5th June 2019  with funding received under Scheduled Caste Sub Plan  Component  ,Government of India by Dr.  Udharawar Sanjaykumar Vithalrao, SMS (Animal Science) , ICAR  -KVK-North Goa ,ICAR CCARI Goa. Ibrampur  was selected for the off campus  training because  village was adopted by  KVK-North Goa and  ICAR- CCARI under Mera Gaon ,Mera Gourav.

Total of twenty trainees including eleven  men and nine  women  attended the training programme in which they were given lectures on various breeds of Goats suitable for Goa, Selection of breeding stock, Scientific Management of housing, health care Management and future scope of goat farming in Goa  .

During the training,  one exposure visit was arranged at Konkan Kanyal Experimental Goat  unit of ICAR CCARI in  Krishi Vigyan Kendra campus ,Old Goa where Dr.Udharwar S.V. conducted practicals and taught castration in male goats, silage preparation, azolla and hybrid Napier cultivation etc. All the participants were give hands on experience of plastic ear tag application, weighing of goats , pruning of fodder trees like subabul, mulberry and drumstick, feeding of commonly available green fodder and tree leaves , mixing of various ingredients and preparation of  concentrate feed etc.

The  training concluded with certificate distribution to all  the participants by Dr.E.B.Chakurkar , Director ,ICAR –CCARI ,Goa who motivated the trainees to make a beginning to rear  Konkan Kanyal goats which gives average five kids in two years ,which  requires less  investment , less space , , less  feed and fodder  and well suits in Goan integrated farming system which helps to boost up the income of farmers. He promised to support in providing technical knowledge whenever required. Various farm items like Plastic Gamela, Koyta, Kurpi, kurad , Weeder and  pruning  secateur were also distributed during the programme.
