Mumbai Research Centre of ICAR- CIFT in collaboration with ICAR-CCARI, Old Goa conducted a capacity-building programme on ‘Value addition of fish and fishery products’ under scheduled caste sub plan
Development of value added products from fish could lead to a business opportunity for rural livelihood of North Goa. Mumbai Research Centre of ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (ICAR-CIFT) conducted a capacity-building programme on ‘Value addition of fish and fishery products’ under Scheduled Caste Sub-Plan programme of Government of India from 9th to 11th December 2019. The training programme was organized in collaboration with ICAR - Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR - CCARI) and Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), North Goa. Participants of 23 numbers from Naroa and Ponda attended the training programme. Various fish based products like fish pickle and battered and breaded products like fish cutlets, fish balls, fish fingers and butterfly shrimp were demonstrated to the participants along with hands on practice. The three days training programme concluded with a valedictory function in which Dr. EB Chakurkar, Director, ICAR-CCARI distributed the inputs for the development of value added fish products to the participants of the training programme. Various inputs like insulated ice boxes, crates, insulated fish bags, fish mincers, sealing machines, mixer, pressure cookers and gas stoves were distributed to the SC beneficiary groups. Smt. Laly. S. J, Scientist, Mumbai Research Centre of ICAR – CIFT co-ordinated the training programme along with Smt. Sangeetha Gaikwad, Chief technical officer, Sri. Tulsiram Waghmare, Senior technician form Mumbai Research Centre of ICAR – CIFT and Dr. Sreekanth GB, Dr. Trivesh Mayekar, Scientists, ICAR–CCARI and Smt. Sunetra Talaulikar, SMS, KVK, North Goa.
