SCSP inputs distribution in the presence of Dr. E.B. Chakurkar , Director, ICAR-CCARI, Goa, held at Arshinageri, Mundugod, Uttara Kannada District

 

               

The STC –SCSP program of ICAR-CCARI started in 2011 has benefitted many tribal farmers of Goa. In 2018-19 the program was bifurcated into STC and SCSP to better penetrate the beneficiary groups. In continuation of the SCSP program this year on 19 October 2019 an input distribution program was organised for inputs like By-pass fat (500 kg- ` 62,500), Mineral mixture (500 kg- ` 80,000/-) for dairy cattle, vegetable seeds, knapsack sprayer, Plastic crates, and other tools for vegetable cultivation (5 sets-` 42,500) and high yielding arecanut seedlings, grafts of jamun, sapota, amla, lemon and nutmeg  (` 97000/-).

The program was graced by Dr. E.B. Chakurkar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, Sh. Ravi Gowda Patil, Zilla Panchayat Member, Sh. Ganesh Gudigal, Taluka Panchayat member, Sh. F.D. Glenavar, village Panchayat Vice President, Sh. Ravi Irappa Lamani and Sh. Manjunath Lamani, village heads, Dr. S. Priya Devi, Principal Scientist (Fruit Science), Dr. Chethan Kumar, Scientist (VPH), project leaders, Dr. Mathala Juliet Gupta, SCSP, Coordinator and Dr. Kotesh Lamani, resource person for the program and SRF, ICAR-CCARI.

The program began with a welcome address by Dr. Kotesh Lamani, and an introductory note on the institute’s STC and SCSP programmes by Dr. Mathala Juliet Gupta, Coordinator (STC & SCSP). This was followed by felicitation of the chief guest, dignitaries and resource persons by the village leaders. Dr. E.B. Chakurkar, Director(A) of ICAR-CCARI delivered the chief guest address and requested the famers to use the inputs judicially and also promised support for any agricultural related problems of the village. He also requested them to give a feedback about the technologies and inputs given to them. The various inputs mentioned above were distributed by Dr. E.B. Chakurkar, Director(A) of ICAR-CCARI , Dr. S. Priya Devi, Principal Scientist (Fruit Science), Dr. Chethan Kumar, Scientist (VPH), and Dr. Mathala Juliet Gupta, SCSP, Coordinator. This was followed by interaction with SC farmers of the village who requested solutions and inputs on various problems faced by them viz. Fall Army worm infestation in Maize, excessive rainfall during harvest (need for Silpaulin sheets for crop drying and protection from rain), Soil testing and recommendations based on it, wilt and thrips-mites problem in Chilli, fruit drop in arecanut etc. They also requested for an exposure visit and training at ICAR-CCARI, Goa for the village farmers. Dr. Chakurkar promised immediate help through institute scientists and also leaflets in their language to help them in future on the same. , Dr. S. Priya Devi, Principal Scientist (Fruit Science), Dr. Chethan Kumar, Scientist (VPH), gave a brief introduction about their inputs and proper utilization of the same. The program concluded with vote of thanks by Dr. Chethan Kumar, Scientist (VPH).
