Interactive Meeting with Eng. Noga Bashan.
In the light of the interest evinced by Eng. Noga Bashan, Director, The
Bashan Institute of Science, Inc, USA, an interactive meeting was
convened under the Chairmanship of Dr. E.B Chakurkar, Director,
ICAR-CCARI, Goa, in the esteemed presence of Dr. N.P.Singh, Director,
NIASM, Baramati to discuss about the technologies, developed by our
Institute which are having commercial potential. Dr. M.Thangam,
Principal Scientist (Veg.Sci.) & Incharge of Horticulture Section
welcomed the dignitaries. Dr. N.P. Singh, Director, facilitated the
meeting by giving his introductory remarks about our institute research
& eventual technologies in the areas of PGPRs & value addition for
Nutmeg Pericarp Taffy & Cashew Apple Crunch. During the meeting , Eng.
Noga Bashan briefed about the activities of her company based at USA &
their interest in our technologies relevant to their company. Dr.R.
Ramesh, Principal Scientist (Plant Pathology) made a brief presentation
of the research programs & technology outcome related to PGPRs & their
potential. Dr. A.R.Desai, Senior Scientist (Horticulture) presented
briefly about the technologies related to value added products namely
Cashew Apple Crunch, Nutmeg Pericarp Taffy & Nutmeg Pericarp Mouth
Freshner (Pachan), for which technologies are ready for up scaling on
pilot trial for eventual commercialization. The above presentations were
followed by the discussion of about future course of action by both the
organizations through standard modalities under the guidelines issued by
the council. Eng. Noga Bashan expressed the prospective collaboration
with our institute in future & hinted for the second meeting in the
ensuing February 2017. The meeting was concluded with thanks to the
Chair, other dignitaries & scientist representatives.
