NRM Directors Meet

    

 

         ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-CCARI), Goa hosted the Director’s meet of NRM Institutes under ICAR, on 11th and 12th, April, 2016. Conference was graced with the presence of Dr. Alok Kumar Sikka, Deputy Director General, Natural Resource Management (NRM) of ICAR, Dr. S. K. Choudari, ADG, (SW&M), Dr. P.S.Minhas, Director, NIASM, Baramati, Maharashtra, Dr. D.K. Sharma, Director, CSSRI Karnal, Haryana, Dr. A.R. Sharma, Director, ICAR-Directorate of Weed Research, Jabalpur, M.P, Dr. A. Raizada, Head, ICAR-IISWC, Bellary, Karnataka. Dr. A.K. Patra, Director, Indian Institute of Soil Science, Bhopal, M.P, Dr. S.K. Singh, Director, ICAR-NBSS&LUP, Nagpur, Maharashtra, Dr. S.K. Ambast,  Director, ICAR-IIWM Bhubaneshwar, Dr.O.P.Chaturvedi, Director, CAFRI, Jhansi, U.P,  Dr. A.S. Panwar, Director, Indian Institute of Farming Systems Research, Modipuram, U.P,  Dr. O. P. Yadav, Director, ICAR-CAZRI, Jodhpur, Dr. B. K. Kandpal, Principal Scientist (Agro), ICAR, New Delhi and Dr. S. K. Dhyani, Principal Scientist, (AF), ICAR, New Delhi.  Director, ICAR-CCARI, Dr. Narendra Pratap Singh welcomed all the delegates. All the dignitaries visited the fields and labs of Animal Science, Fisheries and Crop Science sections. Inaugural session was followed by a technical session chaired by Dr. Alok Kumar Sikka, Deputy Director General, (NRM) of ICAR. The objective of the conference was to discuss on Natural Resource Management related issues and how to address the problems in a network mode, particularly related to the coastal region of the Country. 11th April evening, all delegates visited the farmer’s fields of North Goa. On 12th April, all personages visited the fields of NRM and Horticulture division and KVK. The programme concluded with special emphasis on collaborative research among all NRM institutes in a network mode on biodiversity conservation, coastal delineation and mapping of soil, water, ecosystem, farming system etc. The outcome of the programme may lead to collaborations with different NRM Institutes under ICAR.
