IARI INOVATIVE FARMER AWARDEE 2017

  

Shri Babu Narhari Komarpant, a progressive farmer resident of Devbag Palolem Cancona South Goa received the prestigious IARI Inovative Farmer Award 2017 at the hands of Shri Paroshottam Rupala- Central Union Minister of State for Agriculture, Farmers Welfare and Panchayat Raj, Government of India. His name was nominated from ICAR-CCARI, Goa

His major achievements are as below :

  • Shri Komarpant demonstrated the technology of groundnut cultivation under residual moisture

  • He practices SRI method in his field and is also involved in production of sugarcane, coconut, groundnut, fodder and vegetables.

  • He has successfully demonstrated a low cost model of hydroponic with a capacity of 200 kg hydroponic fodder per day thereby increasing the sales and revenue which was developed at ICAR-CCARI, Goa.

  • With about hundred milch animals (25 Murrah,   75 cross  breed cows) he gets an average of 250 liters of milk per day

  • Selling milk to Goa dairy fetches him Rs. 10 lakh/yr

  • Presently he is Director of Goa State Milk Producers Union Ltd.

  • He disseminated his knowledge of agriculture technique and dairy farming to young farmers and encourages them to follow suite

  • He is the recipient of Best Farmer Award 1976 for kitchen gardening and State Farmer Award 1993

  • He is actively associated with KVK Programs and is a motivational guide to youth in the area

  • With his hard work and expertise in dairy and farm management he was awarded by various fora

  • Presently he is the member of Regional Advisory Committee- ICAR CCARI Goa and Pradesh Adyaksha Bharitiya Kissn Sang Goa Pradesh.

  • Shri. Komarpant conveyed gratitude and thanks to The Director and staff of ICAR-CCARI, Goa.
