National Honeybee Day Celebration
ICAR- CCARI, Goa along with KVK North Goa celebrated “National Honeybee Day” on 19th August 2017. It is celebrated to create awareness on beekeeping and to bring together individual beekeepers and beekeeping associations for interactive session to discuss their experiences with fresh beekeepers. Mr. Chinmay Tanshikar, Progressive farmer, Netravali, shared his experience on beekeeping in reference to Goa among the participants. Dr. E.B. Chakurkar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, stressed the role of KVK and cooperatives in spreading the beekeeping. He also felicitated, Mr. Naadakumar Raikar, Beekeepers cooperative society, Ankola, Karnataka, Mr. Shalio, Beekeeping expert, Porvorim and Mr. Rudolf Fernandes , Farmers and Beekeepers Association of Goa , for their support in taking the technology of beekeeping to Goan farmers. Mr. H.R.C. Prabhu, Programme Coordinator I/C, in his welcome address, explained the beekeeping activities in KVK and its method of transfer to farmers. During the technical sessions,Mr. Shalio spoke on all aspects like type of bees, handling and management of bee colonies.Dr. Sanjaykumar Udharwar,SMS(Animal Science), proposed the vote of thanks. About 70 participants attended the programme and carried the message of beekeeping.
