Bael tree has spiritual and religious importance in India. The fruit possesses broad range of therapeutic effects that includes antioxidant, antibacterial, antiviral, anti-diarrheal, gastro-protective, anti-ulcerative colitis, anti-diabetic and cardio-protective properties. The leaves are used as abortificent and contraceptive in women (Choudhary et al., 2017). Bael is also used to treat jaundice, diarrhoea, small pox and asthma. The decoction of root and bark is used in the treatment of fever. Bael fruits are used as dietary supplements in form of muramba, pudding and jellies. This is also useful for treating peptic ulcers, dysentery and respiratory diseases. Bael leaf juice with black pepper powder is used to treat jaundice. Bael fruit can be consumed directly to stop dysentery. Typhoid is cured by using paste of leaves and honey. Bael fruit is consumed regularly for three months; removes body toxins and cures chronic constipation. Chewing of leaves on empty stomach helps to control diabetes.
