ICAR - CCARI organized three scientific beekeeping programs for Goan farmer’s @ Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (India75)

     Three capacity building programs on Scientific Beekeeping under National Beekeeping and Honey Mission and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav were organized by ICAR – Krishi Vigyan Kendra, North Goa of ICAR-CCARI, Goa during 21 to 28 February, 2022 for three batches with concurrent sessions. Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR – CCARI, Goa in his inaugural remarks briefly spoke on the role of honey bees in pollination and increasing productivity in cross pollinated crops apart from getting honey. Mr. H. R. C. Prabhu, Senior Scientist and Head I/C, ICAR – KVK, North Goa, in his welcome address explained detailed program and importance of the course. During the technical session, Ms. Shishira, Mr. Melwyn D’Souza, Mr. Shaliyo P. and Mr. Savio were the resource persons and covered different topics like Introduction to beekeeping, bees and beekeeping, beekeeping to beginners, seasonal management, Pest and Disease management, Honey and other beekeeping products, Bee species, Meliponiculture, Bees as pollinators & Bee flora. As a part of the program an exposure visit was also organized to “Ras Raj Farms”, Mollem, Dharbandora. The program was attended by 75 participants and all were supplied with honey bee box and other related equipment’s. Mr. Rahul Kulkarni, Assistant Chief Technical Officer (Soil Science) proposed vote of thanks during valedictory session. Mr. Vishwajeet, Technical Officer (Computer) documented all the activities of the program.
