ICAR- CCARI Participated in AQUABE-2019 at KUFOS, Kochi

    International Conference on Aquatic Resources and Blue Economy, AQUABE-2019 was organised at Kochi, Kerala by Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies, and Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA), an international organization of 22 countries sharing coastline of Indian Ocean from 28^th to 30 November 2019. Smt. J. Mercykutty Amma, Hon. Minister of Fisheries, has inaugurated the 3 days event and Dr. A. Ramachandran, Vice Chancellor, KUFOS, Chairman; AQUABE-2019 welcomed all the dignitaries and participants to the conference. Nomvuyo Nokwe, Secretary General of Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA), an international organization of 22 countries sharing coastline of Indian Ocean, delivered the keynote address on blue economy. In all, 50 exhibition stalls including ICAR institutes were arranged as a part of the Expo in connection with the conference. Dr. Sreekanth GB, Scientist (FRM) and Mr. Edward Crasta, Technical Officer were the officers participated from the institute. The exhibition stall of ICAR-CCARI displayed various technologies, varieties, products, publications, research posters and charts. A total of 1500 researchers, farmers, students and entrepreneurs from various parts of the country visited the institution stall and the various exhibits were explained to the visitors. The dignitaries, Smt. J. Mercykutty Amma, Hon. Minister of Fisheries, Nomvuyo Nokwe, Secretary General of Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA), and Dr. A. Ramachandran, Vice Chancellor, KUFOS visited the institution stall and applauded the efforts of CCARI in developing the rice varieties for salt affected areas, cashew varieties for different landscape, value added products from post-harvest remains, ornamental fish feed, integrated farming systems for coastal regions, and pig and cattle breeds for coastal region. The dignitaries have also assured complete co-operation and collaboration to the institute for research and development activities in the coastal region.
