Training Programme on Artificial Insemination in Pigs for Veterinary Professionals


A three day training program for veterinary professionals  on “Artificial Insemination in Pigs” was conducted during 4th, 5th and 6th March, 2017 at ICAR- Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Ela, Old-Goa. This was a part of DBT Project -Augmentation of rural pig production for socio-economic upliftment of poor through Artificial Insemination. A total of 18 participants i.e 13 PG Phd students from Bidar Veterinary College, Maharashtra along with the Head of Animal Reproduction, Professors from Shirwal Veterinary College, Pune, Pookode Veterinary College, Kerala and Trichur Veterinary College, Kerala attended this training program.

Dr. Gokulda P. P. , Scientists, Animal Reproduction was the course co-ordinator. Dr. E. B. Chakurkar, PI , Director (Acting) conducted the training along with Dr. P. P. Gokuldas, Scientist Animal Reproduction, Dr. Chetan Kumar, Scientist, VPH,  and Dr. Shivasharanappa N. Scientist, VPH. They were given hands on experience in doing AI. Demonstration on semen collection from boar and its processing was also shown .
