Description

Body oval and strongly compressed with the ventral profile more convex compared to dorsal. Snout pointed. Colour of the body bluish to green above and silvery below. A large black spot on the upper margin of opercle and near to shoulder is one of the major features to identify this species.

Feeds on planktonic crustaceans and larval fishes
