Description

The snout has a greatly prolonged beak. Dorsal fin rays are 12-15 and anal fin rays around 15-18. Caudal peduncle is without lateral keels. Caudal fin is rounded or truncate. It has few Predorsal scales but relatively large. Caudal fin is light with a prominent round black spot near its base.

Maximum length: 40.0 cm (TL), common length: 22- 25 cm (TL)


Diet

Feeds mainly on small fishes, especially clupeids.


Utilization

Sold fresh and dried in markets.
