Description
Carapace rounded, covered with numerous spines of varying size. Flagella of antennules longer than peduncle, rostrum absent;. Each abdominal segment with a transverse groove, sometimes interrupted in the middle, its anterior margins formed into shallow scallops. Colour of the species is dark greenish to blackish with numerous, very small, white spots (especially distinct on posterior half of abdomen), without transverse bands.

Diet
Feed on crustaceans, detritus and small fish.
Utilization
Marketed fresh and exported as frozen.
