Background

India has seen growing interest in agriculture to agri-entrepreneurship due to interventions of technology and digitization. This shift has strengthened the agriculture start-up culture which helps to eliminate a variety of problems like outdated equipments, infrastructure, poor market connectivity, supply chain, etc. by providing information, techniques, and efficiencies with new ideas and innovations.

To develop more and more entrepreneurs in Agriculture and allied sectors, ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute (CCARI) Goa, has been given funds for the establishment of an Agri-business incubation (ABI) centre through Incubation Fund under XII plan scheme of IP&TM unit, ICAR, i.e. National Agricultural Innovation Fund (NAIF) component II in the year 2019.

Objectives

To nurture early-stage innovative ideas and start-ups.
To develop and commercialize new technology.
To extend value support and ensure the formation of enterprise based on technologies developed by ICAR-CCARI in agriculture and allied sectors of coastal regions.

To nurture and foster ideas and innovations to develop Agripreneurs based on ICAR-CCARI technologies.

Mission

To nurture viable ideas and build successful business ventures in agriculture and allied sectors for coastal regions of India by providing services like infrastructure, business consultancy, capacity building programmes, prototyping and lab testing, business networking, facilitating capital assistance, etc.
