ICAR-CCARI signs MoU with Coastal Impact- NGO for marine and aquatic resource research, extension and conservation

 

    ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-CCARI), Goa signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Coastal Impact, an NGO, works for marine and aquatic resources conservation based at Coima Vaddo Quitula, Aldona, Bardez, Goa on 23rd April 2024 for collaborative research and development of coastal fisheries and aquatic biodiversity including biodiversity and marine species conservation, coral reef ecology, artificial reef, restoration and transportation, marine pollution, mariculture, and climate change. Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, Goa emphasized that this association will have a synergistic impact on the holistic coastal biodiversity conservation and sustainable development by bringing together scientists of ICAR-CCARI and coastal environmental explorers such as Coastal Impact.

    Mr Venkat Charloo, Trustee, expressed sincere thanks to the Director and team of ICAR-CCARI for these great initiatives. He has also highlighted that the coastal Impact will provide all technical support to ICAR-CCARI to conduct research and extension activities in the coastal region. Research posters displaying the fish diversity of coral reef and freshwater ecosystems of Goa were also released during the function and handed over to Coastal Impact team for awareness programmes.  Further strategies for restoration of coral reefs in coastal waters of Goa was also discussed. Dr. Shripad Bhat (Sr. Scientist and Nodal Officer, ITMU), Dr. Gokul Das PP (Sr. Scientist, Animal Science), Dr. Sreekanth GB (Sr. Scientist (FRM), Dr. Trivesh Mayekar (Scientist, FGB), Dr. Sujeet Desai (Scientist, NRM), Shri Sidharth Marathe (ACTO, PME cell) and Dr. Subhradip Bhattacharjee (RA, ITMU) attended the programme.
